29th division of armored trains was formed and built in the USSR in the city of Krasnoyarsk in early 1942. Division consisted of two armored trains. № 1 « Krasnoyarec », №2 «Yenisei». Armored trains were of the same type, each of them consisted of armored locomotive of type Ov, (30 mm hard-tempered armor, booth and the cabin of the commander - 40mm), and four armored platforms: № 960, 961, 962, 963 and № 964, 965, 966, 967 (hardened armor, boards and turrets - 30mm, running gear and roof - 15mm), armament of each - 76mm tank gun KT-28 (76 mm) and five machine guns DT). Afterwards each armored train was completed with one air defense platform of Stalmost plant with two DShK on each.
In the summer of 1942 armored trains was given to the 53rd army of the North-Western front, subsequently it was transferred to the 34th army of the same front and participated in fights near Demyaninsk. At the end of 1942 armored trains got a new numbers: № 1 - 643, № 2 - 692. Later, in the Third Baltic front armored trains participated in the protection of the railway stations. In June 1945 29th division was disbanded.
